Product Description A Sediment Water Filter removes physical debris and impurities from your water. This filter has tiny holes through which water can pass, while unwanted particles are trapped. The filter size is measured in microns, with smaller micron ratings able to capture finer particles.

Generally, for visibly polluted water with larger particles, a sediment filter with a larger micron size (e.g., 20 or 50 microns) is recommended as the first stage to prevent clogging of subsequent filters. This sediment filter is often the initial filter installed in a Reverse Osmosis system, acting as a net to catch unwanted particles like sand, dirt, silt, rust, and other fine matter.

Sediment filters are made of fine, melted polypropylene that is blown and spun into a cylindrical form. Polypropylene is resistant to chemical solvents, bases, and acids. Removing these particles allows downstream filters, such as Carbon Block or Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filters, to perform better and last longer.

These particles and pollutants come from water sources, old/dirty pipes, and water treatment contaminants. The multi-layer gradient filtration design of these sediment filters effectively intercepts a wide range of impurities, including rust, corrosion, coarse and fine sand, scale, and other particulates.

These universal 10-inch sediment filters are suitable for use in Reverse Osmosis systems, whole-house water systems, under-counter filters, and countertop filter systems. They provide superior contaminant-holding capacity and flow rate compared to similar-sized sediment filters.
